What Are Distilled Emotions?

Distilled Emotions are powerful items in Path of Exile 2 that allow players to enhance their gear and gain modifiers that affect gameplay. These emotions are obtained by completing Delirium encounters in the endgame and can be used to augment various items, including Waystones and amulets.

Where to Find Distilled Emotions

To obtain Distilled Emotions, you must participate in Delirium encounters, which occur during mapping in the endgame. In these encounters, you'll step through a mirror, which creates a fog that slowly spreads across the map. To keep the encounter progressing, you need to stay within the fog. If you step out of it, a timer will start counting down, giving you only five seconds to re-enter the fog before the encounter ends.

The best way to maximize your collection of Distilled Emotions is to defeat as many enemies as possible while within the fog. Each enemy you kill contributes to a counter, located at the bottom-left corner of the screen, which will indicate the number of Distilled Emotions you will receive once the fog clears.

How to Use Distilled Emotions

Once you have collected Distilled Emotions, you can use them in your inventory. Here's how to utilize them:

Open the inventory window where Distilled Emotions are stored.

Select the Distilled Emotions you want to use. You can add up to three Distilled Emotions to the spaces at the bottom of the window in any order.

Place a Waystone or an amulet in the top space to apply the emotions to these items.

Enhancing Waystones with Distilled Emotions

When using Distilled Emotions to enhance Waystones, the selected emotions will add modifiers to the Waystone. The more of the same emotion you use, the greater the effect of the modifier will be. Additionally, each emotion also adds Delirium fog to the map where the Waystone is placed.

The higher the percentage of the same emotion, the more Delirium enemies will spawn, making the encounter more challenging.

By adding enough emotions, you could even encounter unique Delirium monsters like Kosis or Omniphobia. These monsters are a rare and challenging part of the encounter but can drop Simulacrum Splinters, which are valuable, though they do not drop additional Distilled Emotions.

Enhancing Amulets with Distilled Emotions

Distilled Emotions can also be used to enhance amulets. When you use emotions on an amulet, you are granted a notable passive skill that will provide powerful buffs or modifiers to your character. The order in which you place the emotions into the slots will determine the specific outcome of the enhancement.

To discover the correct combinations for specific passive skills, hover over the desired skill in the passive skill tree and press Alt. This will reveal the combination of Distilled Emotions you need to apply to unlock that particular skill.

Combining Distilled Emotions

The key to success with Distilled Emotions is knowing how to combine them for the desired effect:

Emotions for Waystones: A combination of emotions will enhance the Waystone and modify the Delirium fog and enemies in the encounter. Each emotion can increase the difficulty and rewards in the map.
